BAND CALENDER PAGE SUSPENDED INDEFINETLY
Ideamen’s release of ‘May You Live In Interesting Times’ makes for a very interesting listen. From first track ‘Interesting Times’ to ‘The Rest’ I’m feeling a band influence from System of a Down, a good thing, as well as elements of Faith No More, a good thing as well. Melodic elements meet cool vocal melodies, epic-theatre, meets musical- drama, to precise skilled musicianship.
Formed in 2006 and composed of lead vocalist Dave Solar, bassist Mark Vasquez, keyboardist Tim Swanson,  drummer Phil Goodrich, guitarist Dan Figurell, Ideamen made their recorded debut with a widely popular five-song EP called ‘Progress.’
The easy groove & trippy feel of ‘Incident’ finds wonderful harmonies and vocal passion, an instant ILLIANA MUSIC favorite.
Released via indie label Rotten Records of Los Angeles, May You Live In Interesting Times’ delivers a vast array of melodies that will catch you, and serve up a diverse choice of appealing arrangements. Several tracks could easily be found on several national satellite music channels, if not already, or locally on Q101 in Chicago, where the band hails from.
Ideamen formed an alliance in 2006 from two bands ‘Duct Tape Mustache’ and ‘Soulvasq’, with similar influences (Mr. Bungle, System of a Down, Ben Folds, Queen). I’m not kidding when I say “Is it over already”, the 45 minutes of the disc went by quite quickly, like a very good movie is over before you know it.
The bands tour kicks off March 10th in Indianapolis; they will begin criss-crossing all over the states. If they come to your town I’d recommend you catch them, they will be playing locally at Reggies Rock Club in Chicago, a 17 and over show. Visit them at myspace.com/ideamen.
